8 Days in Georgia: A Bespoke Travel Itinerary

Georgia is a destination that rewards curiosity. Tucked between Europe and Asia, it offers an extraordinary mix of ancient traditions, dramatic mountain landscapes, historic towns, distinctive cuisine and a remarkable wine culture.

For a first visit, we believe the best journeys aren't about trying to see everything. They're about choosing the right places, allowing enough time to experience them properly, and creating a journey that feels considered rather than rushed.

This eight-day itinerary is a starting point for exploring Georgia. It can be adapted depending on your interests, the time of year you travel, and the kind of experience you're looking for.

DAY 1: TBILISI

Arrive in Tbilisi, free time to explore the old quarter of the city, best done on foot.

DAY 2: TBILISI

Continue exploring the amazing city of Tbilisi. Despite being a compact city, each district has it's own charm, history, architecture and highlights. We will explore Rustaveli Avenue, Fabrika District, and either Sololaki or Vake before wrapping up the day for dinner in the old quarter.

DAY 3: TBILISI - KAZBEGI

Head on a private day trip to Kazbegi. On the way, we will pass the famous Soviet friendship monument before arriving at Trinity Gergeti Church, the ultimate highlight of Georgia. With vast mountainous plains, the views will truly leave you speechless. This day trip will take around 10 hours.

DAY 4: TBILISI - BATUMI

Take the five-hour train journey in the morning from Tbilisi to Batumi, a modern city on Georgia's Black Sea coast. Spend the rest of the evening at leisure exploring Batumi.

DAY 5 - BATUMI

Take a walking tour around the city of Batumi as you learn about the uniqueness of old and new within the city's architecture. Take the time to explore old and new monuments around the city, and enjoy local Georgian cuisine and wine as you explore and discover all the city has to offer.

DAY 6 - DAY AT LEISURE

In Batumi, you can choose to take a day trip to one of the nearby natural parks and waterfalls, or choose to enjoy a day of leisure on the beach. Please note, this suggestion is seasonally dependent and more appropriate for the peak spring and summer months rather than the winter.

DAY 7 - BATUMI - TBILISI

Take the morning train back from Batumi to Tbilisi, as this will give us time to explore one last highlight in the city. Upon arrival in Tbilisi, visit the iconic Trinity Cathedral.

DAY 8 - TBILISI

Depart Tbilisi.

For those who have more than 8 days, we can add a fee days in Kutaisi, a city in between Tbilisi and Batumi that is well known for it's natural wonders and beauty.

The itinerary above is an example of how we might structure eight days in Georgia. Your own journey can be shaped around what interests you most.

You might want to spend more time exploring Tbilisi and it's surroundings through day-trips, discover Georgia's wine traditions in Kakheti, learn more about Soviet history and Stalin in the city of Gori, venture deeper into the Caucasus Mountains and stay overnight in Kazbegi, seek out local food and family-run experiences in smaller villages, or simply slow the pace and enjoy the country's landscapes and hospitality.
